Title: Coil spring markings
Post by: Nigel on September 26, 2021, 05:09:59 PM

Happy Sunday all,
In anticipation of receiving a pair of shiny new rear shocks from Mark,
I'm stripping and cleaning.
Does someone know what these red and yellow paint marks mean?

I'm happy with the overall ride height so there's no intent to change them,
and there's only light surface rust in places, really quite good condition.

Interestingly, Sachs 110 190 shocks came off. Dry as a bone but virtually no dampening effect.

Cheers, Nigel

Prior to laser etching, powder coating and more modern methods of marking spring rates, manufacturers used different paint colour combinations to denote spring rate. Unfortunately you'd need to have the spring manufacturer's chart to make any sense of the markings.
