Title: Experience with tuning/rolling road companies
Post by: peteracs on March 25, 2021, 10:18:25 AM
Hi All

Following on from Eric’s comment re ECU tuning and others who have had carb setups, I thought it would be useful to have a place to put any tuners that folk have used and what sort of equipment and experience they have.

Storm Developments Aldermarston Hampshire

True experts in pressure charged engine set up and Andy is extremely good at setting up Jenvey FI based cars. He does the RR set up for FI vehicles for Darren Cooksey at MSMR so he has fixed and mapped a lot of Lancias

He helped me develop the Tuned VX and VMET. A breath of fresh air after a shocking job done at Emerald!

On the flip side on my much simpler setup Emerald did a top job.

Hi Eric

What ECUs are Storm familiar with?

Hi Peter

I do not have an up to date answer so best that you ask him for a view on your shortlist. I know he does NOT recommend Emerald after a number of nasty experiences. In my case they had not actually finished the software for the cylinder trimming I needed and they claimed to have!

Processor speed was behind another significant issue on a high end engine.

Emerald is cheap enough/ good enough for simple FI builds, but these days there are better options in every dimension. I used to be a fan and used them for years but they are now out of date and the tuning experience is hit or miss. If in doubt shortlist ECUs and ring the UK distributor and ask them for 3 RRs they recommend.
