Title: Montecarlo S2 Air conditioning compressor.
Post by: monte/hpe on February 23, 2021, 10:25:43 AM
I am new here. Apologies if this is the wrong place to start this thread as I didn't think the others quite matched it!

I recently bought a Monte which has the optional air con. I did not even realise it was an option on these cars! The compressor is missing from the engine bay and suspect as it is a Spyder that a previous owner didn't think it was necessary!

having read through threads on various sites i have not found one relating to the Monte and assume it is the same system but in reverse for the front engined cars?

Does anyone have a diagram for the air con? In particular a parts cross reference for the compressor? I went through the South African parts site and noted various parts for different bits but none for the compressor.

Any help/guidance / views etc would be welcome. I am wondering if I want to put it back on and even if in doing so the Pneumatic switch  dashboard operation would work or be reliable. I have experience of these on another Italian marque and the pipes were simply cut away and a piece of wood is used to jam open the fresh air intake.

My car is away getting some work done on it at Alitalia in Wrexham just now and hopefully will be back up here in March.

I assume you have already joined the Lancia Montecarlo Consortium and the Consortium Facebook Group?  Talk to Darren Cooksey of Montecarlo Servicing and Repair he probably has a Compressor in the spares stack and is currently installing modern electric AC in a customer Montecarlo.

The AC was in bits in mine and I gave away the compressor many years ago.
