Title: Head Bolts for VX HPE.
Post by: Paul Greenway on September 22, 2009, 10:22:14 AM
 Hi there,

I believe a couple of the cylinder head bolts to my VX have been stripped, but am unsure which ones and technically am not confident enough in the mechanical department to start playing around to suss out. Is there anywhere I can source a bolt set, how much are they likely to cost and can anyone recommend a garage/someone who is good with Betas around the Manchester/Lanacshire area.

Since the demise of Betacar, I am unsure who to take it to, a local garage with a classic car intrest changed the head gasket and did a temporary fix warning me that a couple of the bolts require replacing, they may have to do the job once the bolts are sourced, however I would much prefer someone who knows Betas better.

cheers,

Paul Greenway.

Guy Croft does a set of head bolts that can be re-used up to four times. They're not cheap (c£70k IIRC) buyt they're a good investment.

Prestocar are in Clitheroe. They're mainly an Integrale specialist but they might be willing to look at yours for you.

Thanks Stuart,

Yeah I have considered Prestocar, I have used them regularly between 1990 & 2005 to sort out my various integrales and they are good, however I was not sure if they were sill operating and if they considered Betas, but it is worth a try , I'll give John Morton a call.

Please explain (c£70k IIRC), I do not understand this, surely not £70,000.

Cheers,

Paul G.
