Title: Wiper blade lengths and exhaust heat shield Berlina S2
Post by: squiglyzigly on June 11, 2020, 08:04:18 AM
Hopefully not more than a month or so away from road testing the Berlina restoration. But a few random things to sort out beforehand. As I bought a car in bits, I don’t have some of the old parts to reference.

1. What size wiper blades do S2 Beta Berlina take.

2. Is there supposed to be a heat shield on the floor where the exhaust down pipe runs to the joint of the center section. I know all my coupes and HPEs had them but I haven’t got one in the spares supplied with the car and there’s no obvious mounting points if I had one?

Cheers
Ian

Hi

I think the heat shield will depend on how old the car is. My early S2 Spider does not have one but there is one shown in the parts book, I guess for later cars (I have not checked the notes).

Hi Ian

On the heat shield make one out of the Nimbus material used on most modern vehicles. The petrol pipes are exhaust heated without the right heat shield leading to vapour lock hot staring issues later.
It might be Rivnuts coated in Dinitrol time.

Coupes & Spiders take 18"Blades  - I can't imagine the Berlina ones would be smaller.

Yes I’m sure you’re right. I will make a shield. It will undoubtedly be advantageous for this and floor heat soak.

Yes I did think of just going with the usual online sellers listings but often there is room for improvement and was hoping someone had tried bigger blades or some such.
