Title: Can I use Gallery pics to illustrate posts?
Post by: mangocrazy on September 10, 2019, 11:00:50 AM
I'm trying my best to wean myself off Photobucket, and was wondering if the site's Gallery function could be used to provide pics for forum posts. Or is there a way to upload pictures from my PC directly into a post and I'm missing it?

Hi Graham

When you create a post there is an Additional options link at the bottom of the main text box and that allows photos to be added. The total size of any photos is limited so best to keep them to 100-200kb per photo if you can. Single hi res photos may exceed the limit as it is a per post limit.

OK, thanks Peter. Is it possible to intersperse the pictures with text, or do the pictures all appear as a consecutive block? (I suppose the best way to find out is to try it...)

AFAIK the txt comes first and the photos after it.

Others may know of a way of course.....

I seem to have lost the ability to post photos since photobucket went wonky, I usually just create a sharing link with Google or Amazon photo app and paste that. I must be getting too old but I find actually inserting the photo is a bit too fiddly to do now

I've been aware that Photobucket will be trying to coerce people to take up one of their plans, and they have bnow resorted to blurring all the photos they host when posted on a third party site. They really are a bunch of arse. So I've laboriously started to go back through some of my posts and strip out the PB links and replace their blurry images with pictures hosted on this site. I can't imagine I'll get round to doing this with all my photos, but at least anything posted from now on will be hosted on this site.

I have my doubts how long they will last after effectively stabbing everyone in the back, the functionality of their site has been hard work too I'm not sure who would pay for such a service. I downloaded all my pics from them and abandoned photobucket. It's a shame as it used to be so good

It's an object lesson in how to piss your customers off, lose friends and alienate people.
