Title: beta owner hello everyone
Post by: mantagtj1981 on June 06, 2019, 09:08:26 AM
hello,  im clive  ,always wanted a beta coupe in the 1970s i used to   speed around  in my  mates dads    car  .

years later now 56 i have spent my life restoring classic cars  some may have met me  but i have always wanted a rot free beta coupe early one so i found one in Australia .
its now having a full nut and bolt and some better engineering  production improvements to the build of it especially the wiring!  does anyone  know if someones made the two cooling pipes yet ? im looking to get a firm to make two in stainless so i can get a batch made. In my opinion the pipes are critical to cooing the rust in the old ones  will always form so that engine coolant will never stay clean bits get around the engine it will  improve cooling with stainless .  great to get one now next year ill try and get it to some beta meets but i will show it  and use it  this may be the car that i will  travel through europe in!
im also on the hunt for some mk1 front lights please.    cheers

1977 beta 2.0 factory air con , 5 speed  Verde finlandia

Hi Clive, lovely looking Beta Coupe you have there. If you look around the forum you'll find that this has been discussed before and I even sent some examples down to a guy in Hampshire for him to evaluate and give us a quote for replacements in stainless. I agree entirely with your view regarding stainless vs. mild steel - this needs to be a fit once, last for a lifetime deal. Unfortunately wires got crossed, I didn't chase this guy hard enough and eventually he ended up scrapping all the parts I'd sent down. Not a great result.

Do you know someone who could undertake this fabrication work? It's not the easiest thing to fabricate, even the pipe sizes are different between front and rear rails. The full story (and a lot of discussion on various topics around this) are to be found in the 'Group Buys' section.

If done it needs the extra pipe to relieve head pressure as on the very late final series cars

Clive
First, lovely looking Beta in a really interesting colour... and welcome to the ‘site.
For those pipes, I was almost caught out recently but managed to find two satisfactory items to keep me going so dropped the idea of remanufacturing; for the future, I’m definitely interested in a suitable stainless solution.

Will definitely be interested to see how much they might cost.
