Title: Beta Coupe 2L oil pressure at idle
Post by: RoyBoyScottie on September 19, 2018, 04:47:21 PM
What is the typical oil pressure at idle for a 2 L beta Coupe engine? And at 3k revs? Car I'm looking to check out has very low oil pressure at idle so need some guidance here please. Thanks

At idle maybe as low as 15PSI hot on a well worn TC ranging to 30PSI on a top fresh built engine. Under load at 3K 45 to 55PSI with a hot engine BUT be aware the OE gauges are not accurate and made worse by worn oil pressure senders. To know for sure plumb in a Racetech capillary gauge. It is fairly easy to do to test and engine.

Age and grade of oil can effect oil pressure.
Cheers Kev.

The gauge in the car is not reliable, plus the sender units deteriorate over time. So you would need a separate calibrated gauge to be sure.
