Title: Lancia beta 1800 new oil pump
Post by: DeXiTroN on June 02, 2018, 05:42:31 AM
Hey folks..

Any idea where to get one?

Or should I not bother?

My 1800 is being completely stripped - new pistons, valves bearings etc.

Seems only the right thing to do to replace oil pump too while I can get to it?

I’ve googled and can only find 2.0L one - is it the same?

Cheers guys!

Have you taken it apart and checked it? Most likely it's fine and OE ones are better than pattern

If you can find a 2.0 one buy it anyway  - they're hens teeth.

The S1 Parts book only lists the one oil pump for 1.4, 1.6 & 1.8 engines so search for a 1.6 pump. There's usually a few on eBay. It's part 82317492.

I'm with Alan here - only but genuine Lancia ones and check what you've got, it may be fine.

Hi

I would also say check it! Also I found a load of sludge inside the lower metal casing when I removed mine, well worth removing that and giving a good clean out.

I would suspect that the later engine pump is the same as the change on height for the 2.0 was due to block height, not sump area related, but you would need to double check. I see the odd one available on Ebay.it which is OE according to the listing.

the sumps on smaller engines are different, i think (not 100%) you can fit a 2 litre pump BUT you would need a 2 litre sump. if i remember right the 2000 pump has more pickup capacity and the VX one is deeper still

I’m not sure which pump the 1.8 uses as standard but I’m sure the pumps are not all the same. They all fit the same but the internal rotor sizes differ. Just plucking numbers from a fading memory, I think the rotor sizes were something like 35mm deep for the 1.6, 40mm for 2.0, and 45mm for montecarlo. You can upgrade to a larger pump for increased flow volume (with suitable sump) but not the other way of course.

Guy Croft can recondition oil pumps (he did my 2 litre one) and he maintains they are better than new once he's done his stuff. He would say that of course, but I believe him...  :D
