Title: Supplier for dashboard binnacle bulbs?
Post by: lanciamad on December 06, 2017, 07:02:22 PM
Looks likely I've got to replace the "tell-tale" bulbs for main beam and rear fog light, or sort the wiring while i'm there so might as well change all the tiny bulbs behind the dashboard binnacle while i'm there, any decent suppliers? can't remember if there quite specialist or not before ripping it all out...

A couple of years ago they were available at my local motor factor.

They are available from multiple places on line and you can replace them with LED for more light and less power used.

Are all the instrument cluster bulbs the same specification? If so is there a string to plug into Google as a search argument?

Agree with Neil-yaj. They are readily available bulbs but I'm sorry I can't remember the number type.
One small word of caution if you change the binnacle illumination bulbs while you're in there, LED replacements will not tolerate dimming. If you still want the illumination dimmer to work then you need to stick to old fashioned bulbs. LED's will work fine in the tell tale lights as they are simply on or off.

Think a majority of the dashboard bulbs are 501 with maybe some 286. The 286 are the very small capless Bulbs that fit in the illuminate switches fitted to VX and i.e.  cars. Packs of 10 are cheap enough.

The smaller bulbs are "286" and the bigger bulbs are "504" I believe, luckily I've had the dash out a few times over the years so a matter of minutes to whip it all out, bulbs changed and ready for a re-test 2018 :)
