Doesn't it just unscrew?

Certainly does! There's a brass insert in the wooden knob. It should just unscrew.

If the insert comes loose you may have a problem.

Thanks, it just must be on really tight. I was trying to do this but it was not turning so I thought I should ask.

Just don't loose it  - especially with the numbers still on.

Why? I was going to sand and refinish in the same shade as my Nardi steering wheel.

The numbers tend to wear off, so it is a nice rare item with them still showing.

Hi

The one above has dark lettering which I suspect may be written on with a marker as I thought the original was in white via screen printing?
