Title: Engine identity
Post by: lanciamad on July 31, 2017, 07:03:58 PM
Hi all,

Don't know whether anyone would have info on engine identification?

I'm planning an engine build alongside running the car, the proposed block I was told from the previous owner he thought was from an IE and is :- 82369691

The head has the number :- 4372281

I know most engines seem to be so interchangeable so there shouldn't be to much of an issue mating them together, but would be nice to know what i'm working with originally if anyone could confirm :)

Thanks, Marcus

I think that looks like an ie block but I'm not super expert. What is the engine number stamped on the block I think that might be more definitive?

It's same casting number as a VX , ie is probably the same no provision for mechanical fuel pump.
Going slightly off topic can't find the VX valves at the moment, can't remember where I put them.
