Title: Datr 34 Carb rebuild and faulty fuel pump.
Post by: Kevo on November 09, 2016, 06:07:57 PM
Well I went to move the car to a better position to finally do a rebuild on the carb but it would not start, traced this to the fuel pump not working :(. So I started to remove the carb and pump but when I removed the air cleaner there was some oil around the filter and the top of the carb.
Any ideas? I'm assuming it's the fact that I've only done about 100 miles this year.

Where's the best place to get a decent pump from?

With the carb rebuild kit I also bought a new GASKET BLOCK but this is about 3mm thicker, will this be a problem?

Many thanks Kev.

Hi

Plenty on Ebay at little money, a few are old stock but new, no idea if there are perishable inner parts, but maybe worth a go at the prices (~£20)

I just bought a fuel pump from Betaboyz, about £45 from memory. Went on perfectly and runs fine. You know what you're buying with Mark.

Thanks guys, will probably go for the betaboyz one.

Does any one have an idea as to fitting the 3mm thicker gasket insulater block, will it cause any issues?

Cheers Kev.

Is it the block between carb and air filter? If so these sometimes get compressed over the years, so your new one is probably right.

Hi Neil
No it's the insulated black plastic block which goes between the manifold and the carburettor.
Old one is 4mm new one is 7mm inc both gaskets.

Cheers Kev.
