Title: 32 DATR Guidance Requested
Post by: aldad138 on May 23, 2016, 02:42:29 PM
Am the proud owner of a rebuilt, lovely 32 DATRA for my 79 US Spec Beta coupe.  The old carb that I pulled had problems and was not a water choke.  In fact, all it had connected to it was the electrical to the back, the vacuum advance for the distributor, fuel in and fuel out.  It had 2 blocked off ports (hose with a screw in the end), one hose going from one fitting to another and one left wide open, not connected to anything.

So, any advice on the most efficient way to plumb in water for the choke?

What do I run to the fast idle module?  I understand it is an emissions control, and this car is long stripped of most everything from it's original emissions setup.

Any idea on the best approach to determine what I need open, blocked off, connected to vacuum (other than the advance to the dist)?

I have tons of pics, if anyone has sagelike advice for me.

Alex

There are various good photos of the standard set up in this thread;

I would have to look at my car as to where the choke water pipes originate, but someone on here will probably know.

Thanks Neil.  This car has been hacked on for so long, it is challenging to say the least.  The water line is no biggie, just curious where it lines in originally.  Once I determine where to connect the fast idle, I am in a decent place.  Can figure out the vacuum mess.

Looking at the engine from the front one water hose runs to a spigot on the far right hand side of the inlet manifold the other runs round past the cambelt cover to the smaller of the two spigots on the rear water rail just behind the water pump. That one may be easier to see from the wheelarch.

Thanks Stuart.  I think I have a plan for water. Now need to determine where to line in the fast idle module.  To the AC lines, but...

It is installed and running perfectly.  Thanks!
