Title: Lume position
Post by: dommorello on March 06, 2016, 09:38:11 AM
Hi there,

Can anyone please confirm where the lume sits relative to the steering column. Does it sit & follow above column for sit off to side slightly. Any photos available?

It seems to fit best on top of starting column but when we tighten up steering column the lume gets crushed. This is the best fit except for the lume being crushed. so wondering if it sits off to the side slightly

Any help and or photos would be much appreciated

Cheers

What do you mean by lume? Electrical looms for ignition switch and wiper and indicator switches?

Wiring lume from fuse box comes through hole in firewall just above steering column unit and follows column for a small section before heading across to dash.  Steering column is fixed to body by bolt that once tightened up seems to crush the wiring lume hence wanting to confirm if it is meant to sit to side of column

I see. I am afraid I will be not able to help you because my beta is LHD so the mentioned lume is located on opposite site to the steering column :/

I'm doing some work on my car later in the week so I'll try to get you a photo. It's a facelift car though, so the routing may be different.

Either way I'm sure that the steering column, which adjusts on the earlier cars as well, does not foul any wiring.

I'll have a look at the 76 tonight and get some pics for you, loom should still be in factory position.

Sorry Dom, went to take some photos this morning but the flash on my phone wouldn't work. To be honest there is only the smallest view of the loom through the gap in the column shroud, which you would need to remove to get a proper view I think.

What I can say is that the loom on my car doesn't seem to go 'over' the column at any point that I can see. Perhaps you need to post a photo to give us a better idea of your problem?
