Title: Rear light connectors
Post by: Jeff on September 27, 2015, 12:14:31 PM
I'm currently trying to bring my Coupe back to life and am having trouble with the rear lights. I suspect the tangs in the plug connector that are supposed to make contact with the tabs on the lamp circuit board card have lost their spring strength.
Does anyone know if these connectors are replaceable?

More likely to be bad/corroded earthing points I'd have thought.

No, been all over them - massive battle making flashers work. A familiar tale....

When you cleaned the earthing connections did you clean the front ones under the headlights?

Yes all bright and clean at the earth points. Thanks for the thoughts though. The electrics are diabolical, aren't they. Wasn't much better when it was new (yes, had it since 1981).

You might be able to find replacement blades & tangs from these guys

http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/section.php/117/1/multi-connectors (http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/section.php/117/1/multi-connectors)

If all else fails you can get replacement connector blocks that look similar

NB Their catalogue is far easier to use than their website!

I use them too. I agree with Stuart - ring them and get a catalogue!

Service is very quick in my experience too.
