Title: 2.0 spider exhaust manifold
Post by: droptop on July 06, 2015, 09:01:45 AM
Having had a second downpipe flange gasket blow in under 200 miles, I need to see the root cause.
I know my manifold is dodgy at the flange with damaged bolts which may have led to distortion of the mating faces but before I replace it, I just wonder if anyone has a 4-1 they'd like to sell or swap for other Beta parts?
I have a perfect standard one along with a good downpipe so that's not the issue.
Not sure if it's an engine-out job but before I commit either way to changing the manifold and having a bespoke exhaust with flexi pipe fitted, I have to take a shot at getting a good tubular item but I don't want to pay an insane price for a new one.
On the subject of replacing the stock exhaust, has anyone had the main silencer replaced with a just pipe and if so, how loud does it get?
I don't mind loud as long as it doesn't sound like a "tuned" Jap or a broken exhaust
Operators are standing by, so call now! (or PM me here)

Hi

Check your engine mounts are ok. Also I have a down pipe with flexi which attaches to standard manifold if it helps. Peter

Both standard and 4-2-1 (or 4-1) manifolds can be removed with the engine in place. Though it's a right faff getting the tubular ones out.

Removing the centre box is on my list of things to do.  Mark sells a complete pipe and suggests the noise increases but nothing offensive.
