Title: Started stripping
Post by: holmesgr001 on December 09, 2014, 06:42:15 AM
So I got the Beta home and started stripping it. Here's a pic of the inside(http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/08/252fffb3056bf9a187f22fbb37214419.jpg)

It has some rust under the left front passenger seat. I think it's repairable.

The dashboard is cracked. Any suggestions on how to refurbish the dash.

There are a few threads about dash repairs if you look in the interiors section. General conclusion seems to be to glue on a covering. Most of the pre-facelift dashes have cracked, so it's unlikely you'd find a good one. Some form of filler would be the other way to go I guess.

What type of Coupe do you have there?

Hi Neil. I have a mid 70's series 2 pre face lift. It's a 2000. I have read posts on other forums where others have grounded down the cracks and then filled and sprayed the dash. Any ideas?

I think those cracks look pretty deep but you could give it a try. You can always cover it over later if that doesn't work.

I think it would be wise to call in a professional repairer, it's amazing what they can do and they'll have all the right equipment to do it. Otherwise maybe consider an upholsterer and getting a cover made in leather

If you want an old cracked one to play with I have one you are welcome to.

Is this the car that was imported in from South Africa recently?

Hi Peter, I am in johannesburg. I am leaning towards finding a professional repairer. My previous beta had a carpet on the dash and really bugged me.    I would like the dash to be as close to perfect. The instrument cluster is in very good condition. Only the plastic/Perspex cover has yellowed, hoping it will polish out.
