Title: Face-lift Window Winders
Post by: Neil-yaj396 on October 25, 2014, 05:10:52 PM
Does anyone have a photo of a winder with the trim plate removed? I don't want to damage the trim when I take it off and it isn't as obvious as the pre-facelift clip type trim as to how you get it off to expose the retaining screw.

The big job on my winter to-do list is to replace the nearside window winding mechanism and fit a nearside mirror. Removing the above trim is the very first thing to do. In the meantime I'll content myself with a full (engine and gearbox) oil change.

Just bumping this one. Didn't get round to this job in the winter, but it's still high on my 'to-do' list.

It was so obvious on the pre-facelft handles, but not (to me) on the newer versions.

Still haven't got round to this.

Is it simply a matter of inserting a small bladed screwdriver under the trim towards the knob end (sic) of the winder, and levering out the trim? Or am I missing something even more obvious?

Doh, how simple was that when I actually tried it as above!

Have to say in my defence that it is a testament to the build/design quality of some of the face lift fittings. That trim looks rock solid until you lever it off.
