Title: Accelerator pedal movement
Post by: smithymc on February 03, 2013, 03:07:48 PM
This may be a daft one, but see photos- the pedal floats sideways.

Not urgent, as she is not on the road, but I noticed it yesterday while starting her up.

Note cool carpet offcut mats too - again contemporary with the car.

Any ideas?

Mark

This happened to me.

The nylon block the pedal hinges in is securred to the bulkead by an M6 nut on a stud and a locating pin that stick out of the back of the block.

Your pin has sheared off. About the only safe fix is a replacement block though you may get away with araldite or similar for a while.

They do come up on eBay every so often. Or you could get one machined up in aluminium.

That one was sold by Chris Bastow ex of Betacar in Bradford - it might me worth asking him if he's got another.

Be aware, this part is different between the first and later series...

Thats fantastic - thanks.

Looking up I can see the white plastic hinge sliding about so can get onto that- another one for the list!
