a little more information for the new Auto Italia format:

Summertime Classics: Where the Living is Easy
Stanford Hall, Sunday July 7th 2013

An all-new, all-marque classic motoring event from the organisers of the phenomenally successful Auto Italia day at Brooklands has been announced, to take place for the first time on Sunday 7th July 2013 – at Stanford Hall in Leicestershire.

‘Summertime Classics’ is for cars and bikes (and even unusual commercial vehicles!) of all marques and all nationalities, gathering in the beautiful parkland that surrounds Stanford Hall, the stately home a short distance from the M1 and A1M.

Says Phil Ward of Ginger Beer Promotions, organiser of the event, “We’re best known for our annual ‘Auto Italia’ Italian Car Day at Brooklands, which has grown over the last 28 years to become one of the most popular annual gatherings of Italian cars in the world. This year the May event enjoyed a record turnout of 5,300, so we felt inspired to launch something new; and we’ve come up with something a bit different.

“Alongside the Italian Car Day at Brooklands, the last few years have seen us hold an annual Italian car concours at Stanford Hall. Now, instead of just focusing on the Italian theme, we’re opening the display up to all marques and models and inviting owners of any classic vehicle – whether two-wheeled or four – to turn up at Stanford Hall on 7th July. Enthusiasts can drive there in any shape or size of classic vehicle and park up for a day of concours, aeronautic displays and autojumble; or simply bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery.

“You don’t have to belong to a club to come along, but many owners’ clubs are already booking display areas for their members, including those representing Pontiac, Triumph Stag, Sunbeam Alpine and Alvis owners – all of which is a bit of a change from our usual fare of Ferraris, Maseratis and Lamborghinis! But since we couldn’t ignore Italian cars altogether, our Italophile friends will be joining us too, with Italian cars from all eras (including modern) and the longstanding Auto Italia Concours forming a centrepiece.”

To pre-book space, club organisers representing ANY marques or models are warmly invited to contact Phil Ward at: gbpromotions@virginmedia.com Tel: 01462 678205.

Meanwhile, a bonus for businesses is that pre-booked trade space and autojumble stands are FREE OF CHARGE. To take advantage of this offer, please contact Ian James at: adsmanager@auto-italia.net

All marques and models now, four or even two wheels welcome. Is this invitation to all makes of "classic" car because so few Italian cars are now turning up? Could dwindling numbers of Italian cars coming to the show actually be due to the whopping £12 entry fee rather than lack of interest by Italian classic car owners? The first few years this show ran for Italian cars it was excellent. Then the entry fee began to steeply increase. Entry fee maybe not a problem if you have a stable Ferraris but still ......... it's expensive.

as the attending cars make the event and owners have to fork out money for fuel to get there as well i have always felt the price is ridiculous and it's per person not per car too. sadly seems to be the norm in the uk these days

As an event that I always wanted to attend sometime in the future, I now am of the opinion that I might not bother. Who wants to pay a steep entry fee just to be another "Foreign car" in amongst the hordes of British mediocrity?
Disappointed.

Hi Chas, Am inclined to agree. they seem to have removed its individuality. And I see that it now clashes with the Italian car day back at Sharnbrook where we held Betameeta. Tempted?
