Title: Caster angle on non PAS cars
Post by: 75coupe on May 14, 2011, 12:25:02 PM
Just wondering if there are any budding suspension/steering engineers out there and what their thoughts are on caster angles. I have a Beta coupe series 1 which I use for competition but still drive on the road occasionally, and I have already changed the front camber setting from slightly positive to 2 degrees negative and have 2mm toe out.

I have noticed there is virtually no caster angle on Beta's, presumably because it would increase steering effort on the non PAS cars (and the steering is not the lightest anyway...), but I am thinking about putting some positive caster in to give more negative camber to the outside wheel when turning to reduce understeer in hard cornering.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Regards

Ian

Have a look through the suspension posts and you will find and Escort top mount which is 2 way adjustable. I am slowly getting GAZ coilovers built using this.
