Title: electric window switch illumination
Post by: spud on February 22, 2011, 11:43:09 AM
Hi all,

Does anyone know the type of bulb that is fitted in the electric window switches on the HPE VX?
They're not the same as the dashboard bulbs- I know they are called 'T5'. I'm hoping to replace all the interior light bulbs with leds and these switches (long with the rear wiper switch incidentally) are a different bulb design.

Andrew.

I thought these were illuminated vis the fibre optic cables.  Similar to the lights above the ashtray.

There is a bulb that supplies the light into one end of the fibre optic and the light is carried down to the switch and there's a small plastic end on the cable that spreads the illumination behind the switch.

There is a fibre optic system on my Monte- I am familiar with that system. No, this is an actual bulb. All the interior switches on my HPE have bulbs.

Here's a couple of pics of the bulb with the switch body in the background.

Maplins keep a similar bulb (slightly smaller)
I've replaced them in the past, you need a steady
hand with the soldering iron.

Thanks Geoff I'll have a look. I'm good at soldering so no problems there.
