Hi there
As ThreePlusOnePlusThree states, the "828" means it's definitely a Lancia Beta engine.

However, the "CB" means that it is for a 2nd Series Berlina (or saloon to you and me) built between 1975 and 1979.

The "1" means that is in fact a Beta Berlina 2000 (1995cc engine) producing either 119bhp (1975-1978) or 115bhp (1978-1979).

The "A" means that is was for an Auto 'box model.

I don't know what the "O" was for.

In practice I don't think that there was any difference to this engine compared to say the engine fitted in a 2nd Series Beta 2000 Coupe which produced the same horse powers and whose gearbox/final drive was identical.

Hope this helps.

John
