Window Regulator replacement Cable Worm

Summary: Instructions how to replace a window worm, manual and electic window, somtimes you can get away with turning the worm around (if this has not been done before) or new ones are available from Mark www.lanciabetaparts.co.uk .

Window Regulator replacement Cable
 
This is to replace badly worn cable  (worm drive) for both manual and electric window regulators. Little modification required to fit as fixing ends vary in design

Instructions on fitting new electric window regulator worm to Lancia Beta procedure is almost the same on the manual regulator.

--------------------------------------------------------

-Remove door panel

-Tape window to frame (to stop glass from falling down)

-remove two 10mm bolts connecting regulator to window

-lower regulator half way

-remove the other 8 bolts

-disconnect 2 wires

-carefully remove regulator from the door






-On the bench drill out the 2 rivets (A) and remove the window stop

-reconnect the 2 wires, have an assistant operate the window switch
 ask them to fully lower the regulator and pull the worm + bracket free from   the unit.

-with the worm removed, drill out 4 spot welds (B) aprox 5mm drill, and remove bracket from the old worm

-take the new worm and carefully line up with 4 drilled holes (B)
  drill holes in new worm bracket to match holes in B

-rivet new worm to "B"

-Grease the  worm and feed into runner, may need to open runner a little on    bend to enable easy of fitting, remember to close gap again

-reconnect to car, again ask assistant to press the up switch and feed worm into regulator

re-rivet window stop "A"

Done, refit into car
