I found the time to do some further work on my less than satisfactory brakes yesterday.
I started by bleeding the front and auxiliary circuits at the front calipers which resulted in a marked improvement as expected.
Next I decided to just fit new pads to the rears as I knew they were gone and as I didn't think I had time to rebuild the calipers, I decided to retain the old discs until I had more time.
The o/s side went well and with a Clarkson-like smugness I tackled the n/s.
Now this is where the fun begins.
The piston was fully extended apparently beyond the point of no return as the piston simply refused to move and cannot be wound back.
The pads are shiny metal items and the handbrake cable is siezed!
Not to be thwarted easily, i fitted a spare caliper I had removed from a rear hub which had been lying outside for 18 months but at least wound back.
There was no saving the cable so I threaded it through the locating hole in the caliper bracket and cable tied it in place.
The result is I now have decent brakes, the handbrake is working as before and the rubber mounts for the transverse exhaust silencer are broken Huh?? (Coincidentally).
I now need to spend tomorrow rebuilding a pair of rear calipers and hoping the Lancia parts website gets fixed soon so I can order a handbrake cable and exhaust mounts.
Oh the joys.....
