Title: 2.0 injection hesitates when accelerating
Post by: waz1976 on April 11, 2010, 07:07:30 PM
i've recently got my injection beta through its mot. the ride to the mot station was a hard drive as i felt as if i was driving a 1 litre engined car with no get up and go. it struggled to accelerate and would take ages to get up to speed.
i have since set the static timing and given it a full service. i have adjusted the air flow meter and kept the tick over at 1000rpm. it is certainly more responsive but i'm sure it should pick up alot quicker than it is doing but as i've never experienced what i should expect from the engine. i bought the car as a non runner which only turned out to be the fuel pump and a disconnected cable from the ignition coil. a friend has suggested that there should be a vacuum pipe connected to the digiplex unit. could anyone out there tell me if this is the case and if so where abouts should it be mounted from on the air inlet.
any suggestions would be very welcome

My cars not running the digiplex setup, but I think a vacuum hose is connected to the digiplex unit. The unit is fitted to the bracket of the power steering reservoir, and there should be a vacuum hose to it from the intake manifold if there should be one. Most probably under the black elephant trunk like hose, and the fact I have a long bit of hose bunged up with a rivet, suggests my car originally used the digiplex setup.
Give us a shout and i'll take a pic. of my engine bay if it helps?

a picture of where the pipe should be on the manifold would be great thanks, as i cant see any where obvious.   cheers.

ignore that... pics  http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=472.msg2185#msg2185 (http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=472.msg2185#msg2185) reply #52 and better reply #79, http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=472.msg2431#msg2431 (http://www.betaboyz.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=472.msg2431#msg2431) smaller vacuum hose for fuel regulator and longer possibly for digiplex?

Waz

Probably worth checking the pressure in the fuel rail with a new pump to a different spec you might need to fit an adjustable regulator and re-set it. Hesitantion under load can be fuel starvation. Sorry I do not have the original pressure setting to hand. many injection systems are set to 3 bar (43.5 PSI).
