I was driving my car recently and was somewhat mortified to see my odometer start to add 10,000 miles while effectively I was pottering about town.

My odometer changed from 16,0000 to 26,000 in the space of about 5 miles.  Now I kinda need to have this fixed properly because of two reasons.

1. Its obviously broken and at the next MOT it will look like I've done more miles than I actually have.

2. It could well affect my limited mileage insurance policy.

Can anyone recommend a company that can fix this ?  (Legally !!)

unfortunately no idea on that one unless you can get another speedo unit and run it around to the correct miles??? my car has had at least one change of speedo unit in its life so I'm not too sure of its mileage and it's on a different engine too a right bitsa!!

I worked out that with a drill attached to a modified speedo cable it would take weeks to change the mileage to match up.

Hay ho - might take the old one apart after NEC and rebuild it, I've found sites that show how to rebuild 70's Volvo odometers so that will probably be a pretty similar affair.
