There's a another company I found doing the same thing - great for pitted mazac or similar but sadly it won't stand high temp so it can't be used on headlights.

I'll see if I can find the link.

I should think it would depend on the clearcoat,  I've seen quite a few rocker boxes
painted and they take a fair amount of heat.

Think of all the plastic reflectors they use in modern cars.

Well, as it becomes more difficult & expensive to have things chromed it looks to have a very good finish so would certainly be worth investigating.

I've parts for my Hawk kit that I'd be more than happy to test it on.  Stuart, Is the company you found a link for a UK company?

That's the one.

I spoke to them and they said they wouldn't recoment the process for sustained temperatures above 100 deg C. I don't know but I suspect the steel bowls on Beta lamps get hotter than that.

The finish has a slightly 'plasticy' look to it compared to nickel / chrome but that's being really picky.

Thinking about it I've got some temperature strips somewhere and a few spare lamps  - maybe I'll do a test when I get back from China.
