Hi
I've seen a regularly used HPE for sale at £1800 with MOT until Feb. I haven't yet had a closer look, but the bottoms of the rear wheel arches are going, which may be indicative of its general condition. Obviously it's hard for you to make any assessment blind, but I'm wondering if this price seems about right.

As with any old car like this one, the price is right if you are willing to pay it. But as you have not seen the car properly yet, I'd guess that you are not really willing to pay it. A similar looking car but without MOT and sold as a restoration project on ebay recently went for £720 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130526399066&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT so £1800 for a road worthy car with MOT sounds about right to me.

Excellent bit of detective work there... makes it seem rather expensive now but then £250 is a giveaway, very typical of a regular auction where everyone present would've laughed at it and talked of subframes falling out etc etc etc...
I think the price is reasonable but I'll bet he'd take less...
I sold a seriously beautiful condition HPE last year for £2,700 so I'd say £1,350 max for this one. Just my opinion.
